Why should you have your system power flushed?

Cleaning a dirty central heating system is essential to maximise the efficiency of the system and will normally reduce your annual heating bills. Our professional, certified service gives your heating system a thorough treatment.

Air will inevitably build up in any central heating system. When this occurs the system can corrode internally, producing black iron oxide sludge deposits in radiators and other iron components. This sludge sticks to all surfaces, causing premature failure of pumps and valves, and cold, inefficient radiators. System efficiency is greatly reduced resulting in wasted fuel as the heating is turned up to compensate.

Even if you have recently had a new heating system installed a Power-Flush is still neccessary.  Oil, grease and iron filings can be present from the new components installed and these need to be removed.

What happens during our Power Flush?

  • A sludge remover is added to dislodge any sludge and debris in the system
  • A cleaning agent is used to remove the dislodged dirt and clean out the system
  • A reciprocating Jet-Flush machine is used to thoroughly replace the dirty water with clean water
  • An inhibitor is added to your system to help prevent scale and corrosion inside your system
  • A test kit is provided for you to send for analysis

How long does it take?

A thorough power-flush will take from 3 hours upwards depending on the individual system.  Normal central heating pumps only pump in one directon. During a power-flush, a specialist omni-directional pump is used to dislodge the debris, and chemicals are used to gently break-down the debris so that it can be flushed out.

A thermal image of a radiator before and after a power-flush shows the difference it can make.
